Taking time off to welcome a new family member is a life-changing experience – and for Jack from our CE team, it was nothing short of priceless. We sat down with him to hear about his three-month paternity leave.
So tell us, Jack, how long were you on paternity leave, and what was the most special part for you?
I was on paternity leave for 3 months, and I feel incredibly lucky to have had that uninterrupted time with my son. Watching him grow and change week by week was amazing. The most special part? Just being fully present. Bonding with him, learning how to navigate this new life together, and seeing our family adjust – it was incredibly rewarding.
What was it like coming back to work after your leave? Any surprises?
Honestly, the transition was a lot smoother than I expected. My team has been super supportive – helping me get back up to speed and being very understanding if unexpected things come up at home. It made the whole process a lot less stressful.
Have any parenting skills helped you at work?
Definitely! My time management has seriously improved – when you’re trying to beat the clock before a very vocal baby lets you know it’s feeding time, you learn to move fast! And I’d say my stakeholder management is next-level now too – if I can handle a baby who can’t tell me what’s wrong, I can handle anything in a meeting.
If you could sum up your paternity leave experience in one word, what would it be?
Priceless. No hesitation.
On paternity leave, what’s the bigger gamble: napping when the baby naps, or watching one more episode?
That one’s easy – our little one isn’t a fan of daytime naps, so we just go ahead and put on the next episode!
What’s been your ultimate “dad win” moment?
The first time we got him to sleep in his own room! It felt like we hit the jackpot. We actually managed to cook and eat a hot meal – no more cold leftovers abandoned on the kitchen counter!
